My Political Rant...

One voice out of millions. That is all I have. And a tiny voice at that. I can barely get my little girl to listen to me at bedtime. But one thing I know for sure is that I am an American, and so proud of it. I love this country. I love all that the flag stands for. I am an American. I see Old Glory unfurled in the wind and I can’t help but think of all the men-and boys, really-fighting in a distant land for others who would rather spit on them then thank them. This is an amazing country. I had a wonderful History teacher in high school (shout out to Mr. Dearden). Before that class, I had no idea what it was to be an American. I remember he told us once that if we learned nothing ease in his class, he wanted us to know what our rights are. How are we to know if our rights are being taken away if we don’t even know what they are? I came away from his class with an understanding and a love for this country that I didn’t possess going into it. The next year, I live in Russia for almost a year, and I got to see first hand how an other government operates. I still remember when I came home from Russia; we were at the Cincinnati airport where I saw my first American flag in a number of months. To see that brought tears to my eyes. I love this country, and that is why I am so nervous about the direction it had been heading towards. I am a conservative Republican. I listen to Sean Hannity and Glen Beck, and I agree with most of what they have to say. I, on the other hand, am just a girl with no connections and influence what so ever. I feel like I am a who on Horton Hears a Who. I am standing here on my speck trying to get someone to listen to me and no one can hear me. So this is me, on my speck, giving you my two cents in the only why I know how to do. The amount of money our congress has been spending in the last 50 days (today is the 50th day of President Obamas reign of change) is staggering. 770+ billion in the first spending bill, stimulus bill (which, by the way, we really won’t see any of it), and an other bill that was passed and should be on President Obama’s desk tomorrow to either sign, or Veto which would be an other 400+Billion dollars. Yes, you read right, I said billions, not millions. That is no typo. And these bills are full of earmarks and pork barrel spending for pet projects which would do nothing but push us further and further into a depression. But that really isn’t all that is making me nervous. I could mention how President Obama sent back to Great Britain a bust of William Churchill that was a gift to our country after 9-11, but that just might be proof of his ignorance as far as foreign policy goes. I am more concern at the march towards socialism that he is leading us on. I have lived in a country that is socialist, and I prefer our capitalist society. Yes, there is a division of wealth, but we have freedom and opportunity not given to any other country on this planet! Doesn’t it always seem to go that we don’t know what we’ve got until it’s gone? I hope not. I didn’t ask for change. I voted for McCain. I welcome all coments, weather you agree with me or not. Because I am an American, and I believe in my rights of freedom of speech and your right to disagree with me.

I think voicing your opinion in a blog is a great idea. If everyone started there the real story would eventually get out. I won't pretend to understand MOST of what happens in congress, because there are so many loop holes and side deals it's almost impossible to understand what anything truly means. But I do understand 700 billion (Take a look at those zeros: 700,000,000,000) and that is a lot of debt that the American people will have to pay for. Our country is headed for some hard times and the best thing we can do is put our homes in order so we can be prepared for it.

I agree with comment #1, I think the best we can do as citizens is just prepare our homes and family and not contribute to the debt. I don't like where our country is headed either, and certainly don't agree with everything that's happening in the white house, but I do know that pretty much all I can do about it happens just in my home. There's a reason all our church leaders are stressing to get out of debt and build financial reserves and food storage so strongly! There's so many different aspects to personal preparedness, and if we are prepared ourselves we don't have to live in fear.

THANKYOU! I wholeheartedly agree with you! Barrack HUSSEIN Obama scares me! The government coming around with all of their "bailout" plans when they shouldn't interfere in the first place, they cannont control everything! It's scary how we are turning socialist!! What the heck!

Wow you are so right I have been having a hard time watching any of the new's/tv just because everytime I do there is something on there about bailout plans and the money that our government is spending. I can go on forever on this subject but I think you put it clearly. Thanks for your post.
